History

Loy Leyland has been in business since 1983. We are a company that has succeeded by offering excellent service to our Clients. Nearly all of our work is from referrals, or repeat customers. It is our goal to continue to satisfy the different needs, budgets and goals of our Clients.

Over the last nineteen years we have grown steadily and expanded the types of projects we undertake, with success in both the residential and commercial areas.

Our reputation has also grown by designing in complex zoning areas. These are Discretionary Zonings where approvals for designs are achieved through a difficult process of interpreting existing streetscapes and discretionary guidelines. We have designed many of the new houses in the prestigious First Shaughnessy District.

The local jurisdictional authorities respect us and we work well through all stages of construction.

Credentials

Mr. Leyland has an Anthropology Degree (1973) and an Architecture Degree (1979) from the University of British Columbia. He is qualified for membership in the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and a member of the Architectural Association of British Columbia since 1983.

Awards

Winner of Nine “Georgie” Awards since 1997, presented by the Canadian Home Builders´ Association of British Columbia for best single family detached homes in various sizes from under 1,500 S.F. to over 5,000 s.f. and also a City of Vancouver Heritage Award for adaptive reuse of an existing house and a compatible Infill Design.

Services

We offer full Architectural services through all phases of a project. These are programming, planning, designing (including interiors), securing permits, preparing contract documents, all aspects of construction field services such as certificates of payment, change orders and substantial completion reviews. We are also computer functional for ‘cad drawings´.

Current Projects

At this moment we have over thirteen new custom houses being built by different parties. Many of our Clients are from different countries, about 75% from Asia. It is our belief and hope that this will continue in the future. We have consulted in China, Japan, and presently planning a project in Finland and Sweden.

Our Team

It has proved successful to match the staff to the work at hand. We have an excellent relationship with many consultants and who work with the clients, the contractors and ourselves to achieve the best possible end product. The clients and their requirements, define our priorities.
