Loy Leyland Architect Inc. has been in business for over thirty years. We are a company that has succeeded by offering excellent service to our Clients. We put the needs of our Clients first. Most of our work is from referrals, or repeat customers.

We have grown steadily and expanded the types of projects we undertake, with success in both residential and commercial areas. We specialize in designing single-family homes, including new builds, renovation and retention projects. To date we have designed over 300 homes throughout the Lower Mainland. In addition to Vancouver, we have consulted on projects in China, Japan, Finland, Sweden, and most notably we designed the Terelj Hotel in Mongolia.

Our reputation has grown by successfully designing in complex zoning areas. These are Discretionary Zonings where approval for designs are achieved through a difficult process of interpreting existing streetscapes and discretionary guidelines. We have designed and renovated many of the houses in the prestigious First Shaughnessy District.

The local jurisdictional authorities respect us and we work efficiently through all stages of construction to best serve our Clients.

SERVICES

We offer full Architectural services through all phases of the project. These are programming, planning, designing (including interior and landscape), securing permits, preparing contract documents, all aspects of construction field services such as certificates of payment, change orders and substantial completion reviews.

Many of our Clients are from different countries, with the majority from Asia. We pride ourselves on our familiarity with Asian culture and Feng Shui, often working closely with Feng Shui Masters. If needed, we have in house Mandarin and Cantonese translating available.

We have a very diverse and skilled team from around the world including China, France, Poland as well as Canada. We have excellent relationships with many consultants and we work closely with the Client and the contractor to achieve the best possible end product. Ultimately, the Clients and their requirements, define our priorities.

AWARDS

Winner of fourteen Georgie Awards, presented by the Canadian Home Builders´ Association of British Columbia for best single family detached homes in various sizes and two City of Vancouver Heritage Awards for adaptive reuse of an existing house and a compatible Infill Design.

Loy Leyland has an Anthropology Degree (1973) and an Architecture Degree (1979) from the University of British Columbia. He is qualified for membership in the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and a member of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia since 1983.
